Kellyanne Conway's daughter's nod to Kamala Harris goes viral

The daughter of former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway has expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the November elections.

Although Kellyanne Conway served as a senior adviser to the president in Donald Trump's administration from 2017 to 2020, Claudia Conway and her father George Conway, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, emerged as vocal critics of the Republican leader in 2020.

Over the years, Claudia Conway has repeatedly expressed her opposition to Trump and several conservative political aspirations, even during a tumultuous time in her relationship with her mother.

Now she has shared a photo of herself and her father in the crowd at the Democratic National Convention on Monday that has since gone viral.

Newsweek sent Claudia Conway an email on Tuesday asking for comment.

“MAGA is the most hated,” she wrote in a post on the platform alongside a photo of herself and her father wearing “Kamala” patches and the DNC stage in the background. At the time of writing, the post had been viewed 1.1 million times.

Harris surprised everyone on Monday by taking the stage and giving a brief address to those in attendance. She is expected to formally accept the Democratic nomination in a speech on Thursday after winning enough delegates to become the nominee.

Comments on Claudia Conway's post are overwhelmingly positive, with one person writing, “Well, MAGAs can hate, but we love you both. Claudia is beautiful. Enjoy your time at the DNC.”

“MAGA is the most hated person, that means you are awesome in my eyes!!,” said another.

A third person added: “Thank you both for your courage and integrity in standing up for what is right!”

However, not everyone was impressed by the post, with one person writing: “I feel sorry for you. You should listen to your mother.”

“We don't hate you. We want your father to get the mental health treatment he so desperately needs,” said another.

Claudia Conway often expresses her political opinions openly online and in July she attacked Trump, calling him a “fake Republican.”

“Trump is a fake Republican. To put it more simply, he has completely destroyed and reshaped the ideals of the Republican Party. That's why we see one Republican after another supporting our soon-to-be first female president,” she wrote on X.

Claudia Conway continued her criticism of Trump and his vice presidential candidate JD Vance, comparing the ideals of these politicians to those she grew up with.

“When I think about the Republican and conservative ideals that I grew up with and that my parents instilled in me from a young age, I see no parallels to Trump's or Vance's agenda. Really,” she said. “They started their own party.”

Also in July, Claudia Conway called her mother to support Vance.

“Senator @JDVance1 represents a new generation of America First warriors. His life experiences and vision enable him to fight alongside President Trump for the forgotten men, women and children. Let's win in 2024!” Kellyanne Conway wrote on X.

As previously reported by NewsweekClaudia Conway responded: “You thought he called Trump 'Hitler'? He did. You thought he said he was against marriage equality and against abortion because of rape and incest? … Oh, right, he did.”

At the time of writing, her comment was no longer visible on the platform.

In another post, Claudia Conway responded to a clip of Vance talking about women leaving “violent” or “unhappy” marriages, writing, “Big yikes.”
