Anthony Edwards revealed that Steph Curry was drug tested after an important gold medal game

NBA All-Stars Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant, along with the rest of the star-studded roster, helped the U.S. national team win its fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal in men's basketball in Paris. Such an accomplishment, the first Olympic gold medals for Curry and Edwards and a fourth gold medal for Durant, setting a men's basketball record, was cause for celebration.

But the trio could not celebrate as they wanted because there was a … doping test?

Edwards, during an appearance alongside Durant in his show, which he produced The meeting room at Fanatics Fest, shared the news about the drug test after being asked by former NBA player Jalen Rose how the U.S. team's celebration was.

“After the gold medal – I won’t lie – I and he [gestures to Durant] “We had a – what do you call it? – drug test,” Edwards said. “We couldn't even celebrate in the locker room because me, him and Steph had to do a drug test or something on us.”

When Rose interjected that the drug test was no surprise given Curry's incredible performance in the gold medal game against France, Edwards said that Durant had been scheduled to undergo a drug test earlier in the Games.

“He should have gotten one after the first Serbia game,” Edwards said as Durant laughed.

It is not unusual for athletes to be subjected to a doping test after a great performance, and Durant (23 points against Serbia), Edwards (26 points against Puerto Rico) and Curry (36 points against Serbia, followed by 24 points against France) all had outstanding individual games in Paris.

Apparently, officials at the Games were suspicious enough to subject the trio to drug testing, especially after Curry had sunk a barrage of three-point shots in the U.S. team's last two victories.
