Wisconsin woman sentenced to 11 years in prison for killing suspected sex trafficker at age 17 | News

A Wisconsin woman who said she killed a man because he sexually trafficked her has been sentenced to 11 years in prison. Court documents.

On Monday (August 19), a judge in Kenosha County sentenced Chrystul Kizer to 11 years in prison, followed by five years probation in 2018 in the death of Randall VolarIn addition, 570 days of the prison time already served were credited to her, which is about one and a half years.

In May, Kizer pleaded guilty to second-degree premeditated murder in Volar's death, avoiding a trial and a possible life sentence. Prosecutors said that when Kizer was 17, she shot Volar in his Kenosha home and then burned down his house and stole his BMW. She was charged with multiple counts, including first-degree premeditated murder, arson, auto theft and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to the APKizer, now 24, said she met Volar on a sex trafficking website and that he sexually assaulted her and sold her as a prostitute in the year before his death. She told investigators she shot him after he tried to touch her.

Kizer's lawyers said she could not be held criminally responsible for any of the acts because a 2008 state law exonerates sex trafficking victims from “any crime committed as a direct result” of trafficking.
