Rensselaer man charged with drug possession – Troy Record

ALBANY, NY — Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. announced in a press release the arrest of a Rensselaer man for drug possession.

On Wednesday, August 14, at approximately 9:13 a.m., Albany County Sheriff's officers patrolling the city of Albany conducted an investigation in the area of ​​South Pearl Street and Madison Avenue due to recent complaints from business owners about a rise in crime and quality of life issues, officials said. During the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of ​​Broad Street and Alexander Street for a traffic violation.

While questioning the operator, identified as 58-year-old Glendell Ellis, officers found that he was in possession of approximately one ounce of crack cocaine, which was intended for distribution based on its weight and packaging, the release said. It was also revealed that Ellis had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Albany County Sheriff's Office.

Ellis was charged with two counts of third-degree illegal possession of a controlled substance (a Class B felony), second-degree bail jumping (a Class E felony) and a traffic violation, the release said. Ellis was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and transported to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
