Chappell Roan criticizes the attention she has received since her fame.

On Monday, August 19, the singer-songwriter shared two TikTok clips explaining her decision to sometimes avoid being photographed and spending time with fans who may think they are “entitled” to certain things because of their celebrity status.

“It doesn't bother me that abuse and harassment, stalking, etc. towards famous or somewhat famous people is normal,” Roan (real name Kayleigh Amstutz), 26, said in a video.

“I don't care that it's normal. I don't care that this crazy behavior comes with the job, [or] the career I've chosen. That doesn't make it okay. That doesn't make it normal. That doesn't mean I want it. That doesn't mean I like it,” she insisted.

The “Pink Pony Club” singer continued, “I don't want whatever you think you're entitled to when you see a celebrity. I don't give a f*** if you think it's selfish of me to say no when I want a photo or your time or a hug.”

“This is not normal. This is weird. It's weird how people think you know a person just because you see them online and listen to their art. This is fucking weird. I'm allowed to say no to creepy behavior,” she concluded.

Roan captioned the video, “Don't assume this is against anyone or any particular encounter. This is just my side of the story and my feelings.”

Her post came after the musician shared another video in which she asked her fans several questions. “If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her out the car window? Would you harass her in public?” she said into the camera.

Roan continued, “Would you walk up to a random lady and ask, 'Can I take a picture with you?' And she says, 'No, what the hell?' And then you get mad at that random lady? Would you be insulted if she denied you your appointment because she has her own time?”

“Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her everywhere? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online?” she added. “This is a woman you don't know, and she doesn't know you at all. Would you assume she's a good person? Assume she's a bad person? Would you assume everything you read about her online is true?”

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer concluded, “I'm a random bitch. You're a random bitch. Just think about it for a second, okay?”

Roan's videos come after she performed at a July gig on The comment section with Drew Afulo.

“People started acting like freaks,” she also said in the chat. “They follow me and know where my parents and my sister live, where my sister works, all that weird shit.”

“A few years ago I said that if [there was] Stalker vibes, as if the family was in danger, [that’s] when I would stop. We're here,” Roan insisted.
