Suspect in Amsterdam early morning stabbing in custody, police say

An Amsterdam man was arrested after a stabbing and charged with attempted murder, police said.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 00:25, the Amsterdam Police received reports of a patient in the emergency room of Saint Mary's Hospital with injuries allegedly resulting from an assault. According to the Amsterdam Police Criminal Investigation Department, who were on scene and observed the victim, he suffered multiple stab wounds and cuts to his body and head.

The suspect in the attack was identified as Adan D. Guzman-Rodriguez, 23, of Amsterdam. Police questioned Guzman-Rodriguez on the morning of August 15, 2024, at the Amsterdam Police Headquarters, where he was then detained on the following charges:

  • Attempted second degree murder (B-FELONY)
  • Second Degree Assault (D-FELONY)
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (D-FELONY)

The victim's injuries were treated and he was released from the hospital.
