Defense begins to present its case to the jury

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) — The defense will begin calling witnesses on the seventh day of the murder trial of Robert Telles, who is accused in the death of Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German.

11:14 am – District Attorney Pamela Weckerly questions the witness.

11:10 am – Defense attorney Robert Draskovich asks the witness: “Is a suicide attempt an indicator of a guilty conscience?”

“Not necessarily, no,” Chambers replied. “The stress that comes from being accused of a crime, particularly a serious crime, as I said, can cause people to commit suicide or attempt suicide, whether they are guilty or not,” he added.

10:54 am – The state calls Dr. Mark Chambers to the witness stand. He is a forensic and clinical psychologist.

10:48 am – After discussing some legal points, the trial continues with the defense presenting its first witness.
