Maryland woman arrested in fentanyl death of Washington man

Sarah Katherine Magid was taken into custody without incident.

BURTONSVILLE, Maryland – A Montgomery County woman is charged with fentanyl-related death of a Washington, D.C. man, the Montgomery County Police Department said Tuesday.

Police said the woman's arrest was related to the death of a Washington DC man in March. An autopsy revealed that his cause of death was fentanyl poisoning.

After his death, investigators said they came across information that suggested the victim had been in Montgomery County in the days before his death.

Police said they discovered that a person named “Sarah” had been in contact with the man before his death. This person was later determined to be Sarah Katherine Magid.

On Monday, police searched Magid's home in Burtonsville. She was later taken into custody without incident.

Police said Magid was an elementary school teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools. However, police did not say any children were involved in the incident or that any crimes were committed on school grounds.

Magid is awaiting a bail hearing. No further details have been released.
