Woman arrested and charged in TBI Medicaid fraud case

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A woman was arrested and faces charges after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Medicaid Fraud Control Division investigated a case of Medicaid fraud.

Jerrilyn Short, 41, of Millington was charged with eight counts of theft from a vulnerable adult and three counts of identity theft.

Short was working as a personal finance coordinator in Memphis in July 2023 when she accessed the bank accounts of eight patients and used their money to her advantage. According to the TBI, she also used the signatures of three of her supervisors to cover up her actions.

On August 17, special agents with the assistance of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office arrested Short on an outstanding warrant and remanded her in the Shelby County Jail on $20,000 bail.

There is currently no short on the bond.
