Chapin man arrested for attempted murder after shooting earlier this month

IRMO, SC (WOLO)– A Chapin man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a shooting earlier this month, according to Irmo police.

On August 3, Irmo officers reported responding to a shooting at a home in the New Friarsgate Subdivision.

Although two houses and a car were hit by gunfire, no one was injured.

Irmo Police said that after conducting several interviews and evaluating evidence from the crime scene, arrest warrants were issued for 20-year-old Maurice T. McQuire.

McQuire was taken into custody without incident on Friday, August 16, and charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and denied bail.
