Video shows Miami Gardens mother whipping toddler with coat hanger – NBC 6 South Florida

According to records, Miami Gardens police arrested a mother after she was caught on video whipping and hitting her three-year-old toddler with a coat hanger.

Two charges of child abuse are now being brought against 25-year-old Aaliyah Shantrelle Herring.

David Jones told NBC6 that he was speaking via Facetime with his ex-partner and the mother of his child when the conversation suddenly turned violent.

“She calls my phone and tells me to pick (the child) up…she says she has it, I'm looking for excuses…and not taking care of her. I'm not acting like the father I'm supposed to be,” Jones said, explaining why Herring was upset during the Facetime call.

Jones said he began screen recording when Herring began hitting her child with what looked like a coat hanger.

The couple has separated and Jones is banned from supervised visits.

“Since you don't want to take care of your own child. You know what? I'll fucking eliminate them myself, how about that?” Herring says during the phone call.

“You still won't shut up? That's okay, you're all going to watch me kill your child, how about that?” she says at one point.

Records show that Herring repeatedly hit the baby and threatened to kill him.

Herring told police during an interview that she was “punishing the victim for throwing a remote control at her.” The woman later claimed that the victim's father created the video using artificial intelligence and that she was not seen in the video.

Judge Mindy Glazer gave her the opportunity to get out of prison, but ordered her to stay away from the three-year-old.

Jones said the victim was with Herring's stepmother.
