Grand jury indicts more than a dozen Owensboro residents on drug charges

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) – Earlier this month, a federal grand jury in Louisville indicted a total of 37 defendants from Kentucky and California on five separate counts for methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine trafficking, as well as weapons offenses.

Nineteen of these suspects are from the Tri-State area, most of them from Owensboro, but some from Utica.

Officials said the charges were the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by the Task Force on Organized Crime and Drugs.

One of the indictments charges seven local defendants with conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Beginning in March 2023 and running through August 5, 2024, officials accuse the defendants of conspiring to possess 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute it. The defendants charged in the second indictment are:

  • Richard Boarman48, from Owensboro
  • Joshua Estap40, from Owensboro
  • Justin Riley41, from Owensboro
  • Jamie Voyles44, from Owensboro
  • Gregory Nuckols61, from Owensboro
  • Zacharias Nance44, from Utica
  • Hope Warsinsky39, from Owensboro

In the third indictment, three defendants are each charged with conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

As early as March 2023 and until August 5, 2024, the defendants are alleged to have possessed and distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The defendants charged in the third indictment are:

  • Cameron Jackson24, from Owensboro
  • Damone McGuire29, from Owensboro
  • Tyler Vinson32, from Owensboro

According to officials, Jackson is also charged with possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with the intent to resell, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

In 2019, Jackson was convicted of second-degree manslaughter, receiving stolen firearms, tampering with evidence and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), according to officials.

The fourth indictment charges six defendants from the three states each with conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

  • Jonathan Hawkins43, from Owensboro
  • Jeramey Hawkins46, from Owensboro
  • Timothy Roach37, from Owensboro
  • Charles Nelson41, from Utica
  • Joe Turner46, from Owensboro

According to the fifth indictment, three defendants from this area are each charged with conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

As early as May 2023 and until August 5, 2024, the defendants are alleged to have conspired to possess and distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The defendants charged in the fifth indictment are:

  • Diana Miranda38, from Owensboro
  • Timothy Roberts46, from Owensboro
  • Shalonna slaughters57, from Owensboro

We have been advised that the cases are being investigated by the DEA, IRS-CI and the Owensboro Police Department, with assistance from the FBI, Kentucky State Police, Indiana State Police, Louisville Metro Police Department, Evansville Police Department, DEA Evansville Resident Office River City Drug Task Force – Indiana HIDTA and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office.
