Murder victim and suspect identified in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) – Both the victim and suspect in this morning’s murder in New Bedford’s South End have been identified.

New Bedford Police were called to the Seabra Foods at 41 Rockdale Avenue around 3:40 a.m. today for a report of a man sustaining an injury.

When emergency responders arrived, the man suffered an apparent head injury. New Bedford EMS pronounced him dead at 3:56 a.m.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office has identified the victim as Stephen Oswald, 58, of New Bedford.

In connection with this, 31-year-old Nina Busnengo, whose last known address was in Mattapoisett, was arrested. Busnengo is accused of assault with a dangerous weapon and is scheduled to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Wednesday morning.

The public prosecutor could not identify the weapon used.
