Dog dies in animal cruelty case in Manor, Texas

Nine dogs were left outside in cages in the summer heat without adequate food or water, Manor police said.

MANOR, Texas – One person has been arrested following an animal cruelty case in Manor that left a dog dead.

According to Manor police and animal control, nine dogs were left outside in cages in the summer heat without adequate food and water.

Two of the animals were reportedly wearing animal sweaters, which are commonly used to protect animals from cold weather.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperature in Manor at the time was 40 degrees with a heat index of 42 degrees. A heat warning was issued for the area.

The owner of the animals was arrested on site and taken to the Travis County Jail.

Manor Police, along with Manor Animal Control, are investigating a serious case of animal cruelty where nine dogs were left outside in cages in the summer heat, allegedly resulting in the death of one dog. The owner did not provide them with adequate food or water, and two of the animals were left in animal sweaters, which are commonly used to protect animals from cold weather. The U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio Texas reported the temperature in Manor at the time officers arrived to be 104 degrees with a heat index of 108 degrees and issued a heat warning for our area. The owner of the animals was arrested on site and taken to the Travis County Jail. The live dogs are safe and are in the process of being legally seized by Manor Police Department detectives and placed in animal rescue centers. The live dogs are safe and are currently being legally seized by Manor Police Detectives for placement in animal rescue facilities.
