3 dead, 7 injured, including a suspect, in accident, police say | News

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Three people are dead and seven others are injured, including the suspect, after a crash in Hickory Hill Tuesday night, police said.

At 9:47 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious car in the area of ​​Getwell and Cottonwood, police said. The suspect refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit.

Police said they lost contact with the car, but additional officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of ​​Kirby Parkway and East Raines Road.

The suspect ignored a red light, which led to an accident involving five cars, police said.

According to police, two women died at the scene of the accident.

Police also reported that the suspected driver was a male juvenile (age unknown) who was hospitalized in non-critical condition.

Another woman was taken to hospital but did not survive her injuries, police said.

Three other women, two men and a child were taken to hospital in non-critical condition, police said.

According to police, no charges have been filed against the suspect so far.

Police reported that no officers were injured.
