New JBL Tour PRO 3 headphones with touchscreen housing coming next month

After getting to try out JBL's new Live Beam 3 ANC earbuds with the touchscreen charging case and Google Finder feature, the brand is now ready to officially unveil its new flagship version, the JBL Tour PRO 3. We saw it at CES 2024 earlier this year, but JBL is now preparing to launch its new earbuds with the second-generation Smart Case next month.

JBL Tour PRO 3 with touchscreen housing to be released next month

At first glance, the new JBL Tour PRO 3 inherit many of the outstanding features of the Live Beam 3 set, only in a higher-quality package with some bonus extras. They come with JBL Spatial 360 with head tracking, True Adaptive Noise Cancellation 2.0 and a Smart Charging Case equipped with a touchscreen.

The main attraction for most people is clearly the touchscreen charging case – that was certainly the case for me with the Live Beam 3. It offers full control over the earbuds’ functions and you can even load your own homescreen images onto it, but it also enables what JBL calls “Everywhere Entertainment” through its wireless audio transmitter functionality.

You know those transmitters for airplanes and cars that you can plug in and then transmit audio to your wireless headphones? The JBL Tour PRO 3 has it all built in.

Simply plug in the charging case and it will instantly and automatically connect to your earbuds. Even better, the direct connection between the case and earbuds is more stable and has lower latency than Bluetooth, making it the perfect companion for games, calls, movies and music.

The new earbuds also come with full Auracast functionality, allowing you to “share audio content with any Auracast-enabled device” using a dedicated button on the Smart Charging Case. If you haven't read my review of the Live Beam 3, you should know that the case offers “seamless control over music playback, call management, access to ID3 tag, caller ID and media file information, and more, without having to access your phone.”

Speaking of the charging case, JBL says it offers a 30% larger screen this time around in an overall smaller form factor.

Add to that support for the Hi-Res certified LDAC wireless audio codec, as well as the brand's JBL Spatial 360 and head-tracking technology and its latest adaptive noise cancellation—the ANC on the last set I tried was pretty good, by the way.

The new JBL Tour PRO 3 are available in black and latte and will be released on September 22, 2024 at 299,99 €. Watch out for the practical test, which will be published soon.
