I-77 in Mooresville reopened after accident near Brawley School Road

MOORESVILLE, NC — The southbound lanes of Interstate 77 have reopened in Mooresville following a serious crash, officials said.

The accident occurred on I-77 southbound at mile marker 35, just before the Brawley School Road exit. All four southbound lanes were closed due to the accident.

Traffic cameras in the area showed what appeared to be multiple vehicles involved, including a box truck that blocked at least two lanes. Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the Mooresville Fire Department and Iredell County EMS.

NCDOT expected the road to be closed until about 10 a.m., but the accident scene was cleared shortly after 9 a.m.

The crash caused traffic to back up for nearly 2 miles toward Troutman. Motorists can use US 21 as an alternate route to I-77 south of the crash site. It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash. WCNC Charlotte reached out to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for more information.
