Obamas push for Harris; Walz takes center stage on third day – WFTV

CHICAGO — Wednesday is the third day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The DNC said the theme of the day would be “A Fight for Our Freedoms.”

On Tuesday evening, more familiar faces took the stage, including the Obamas.

Democrats said they made a passionate plea for Americans to elect Vice President Kamala Harris rather than former President Donald Trump.

“We don't need four more years of noise, bluster and chaos. We've seen this movie before, and we all know that the sequels are usually worse,” said former President Barack Obama.

Democrats say the Obamas understood the task and managed to mobilize the base at the United Center while also explaining to them the realities that lay ahead.

The Obamas said this election was a choice between two different visions of America – one led by Harris, the other by Trump.

Other memorable moments of the evening included the ceremonial roll call.

It started with Delaware – President Joe Biden’s home state – and ended with California, where Harris is from.

All of the DNC activity took place while Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz were an hour away in Milwaukee campaigning with voters.

Democrats will try to portray Walz as a running mate committed to preserving freedoms while Trump's agenda threatens them.

Wednesday evening also offers Walz the opportunity to introduce himself to the voters.

Although Walz has been involved in politics for several years, he is still relatively new to the national stage.
