Sanford shooting under investigation, police say

SANFORD, Maine – Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Tuesday night in Sanford.

Sanford police said they received several calls about hearing gunshots in the Bodwell Street area around 11 p.m., a department news release said.

Police said they immediately responded to the scene and investigated the area where they discovered shell casings. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The police department's Criminal Investigation Team was also on site to continue the investigation at the scene. Sanford police said the team is following up on several leads regarding possible suspects.

Police are asking anyone living on Bodwell Street, School Street or Church Street to review surveillance footage from the time of the incident and report anything they find to 207-324-3644.

According to the police, this appears to be an isolated case.
