Police ask public for help in solving death at gas station in South LA

Detectives hoped Wednesday that a $50,000 reward would yield information that would help them solve the murder of a man who was gunned down at a South Los Angeles gas station in December.

Marquette Deon Scott Jr., 32, of Victorville was shot at a Sinclair gas station in the 8500 block of South Hoover Street around 11 p.m. on Dec. 3, Los Angeles police said. Scott died at the scene.

“Marquette Scott … was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached and shot by an unknown suspect,” the LAPD said in a statement. “The suspects involved in this incident have not yet been identified and the motive for this shooting remains under investigation.”
