Shooting in Bridgeport: Two men with gang ties arrested

Two men suspected of belonging to a gang were arrested Wednesday morning in connection with an apparently dramatic shooting at the Bridgeport bar in mid-August.

On August 11 (a Sunday), the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received not one, but several reports of gunfire near Bridgeport – 2 Richards Ave. & SR 173. The first complaints came in at about 11:15 a.m. local time.

What followed was a lengthy investigation. The sheriff's office eventually focused on a handful of suspects, including Rosendo Saucedo Jr., 28, of Bridgeport and Ivan Garcia-Ramirez, 29, of the Bridgeport bar.

Separate search warrants were executed “without incident” at 4:00 a.m. local time Wednesday morning. Authorities seized an undetermined amount of ammunition and firearms, some of which were apparently stolen.

Both Saucedo and Garcia-Ramirez were taken into custody.

Saucedo faces a number of charges, including first-degree assault and second-degree unlawful discharge of a firearm, as well as aggravated charges that he allegedly committed a prior domestic violence offense. The events of August 11 constitute a violation of an existing domestic violence protection order against Saucedo.

Garcia-Ramirez is accused of obstructing a police officer and making false or misleading statements.

A third suspect, Ruben Garcia-Ramirez, was harder to catch. He was not present when the search warrants were executed and is still at large, according to the sheriff's office. His age and whereabouts have not been released.

However, Ruben faces a number of serious charges, including first-degree assault, second-degree unlawful discharge of a firearm and reckless endangerment. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's tip line: 509-699-3283.

This “high-risk” warrant required the assistance of countless agencies: East Cascade SWAT Team; Yakima SWAT; Kittitas County SWAT; FBI SWAT; Columbia River Drug Task Force; Washington State Patrol; Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife; Wenatchee PD; East Wenatchee PD; RiverCom; Chelan County Sheriff's Office; HSI Homeland Security; Ballard Ambulance; Bridgeport Fire; and Okanogan County Fire District 15. Each of them was named in a thank you letter from Sheriff Kevin Morris.

Dangerous Texas gangs and their rivals

The rise of gang culture in Texas was a steady

The more prevalent gangs are, the more likely the average citizen is to come into contact with them. As Texas' population has grown in size and diversity, so have the Lone Star State's gangs.

Unless you're involved in organized crime, you're probably safe. But as the old saying goes, the more you know, the better prepared you are.
