Video released of erratic driver causing hit-and-run in Valley: LAPD

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Police are searching for a driver who was caught on video driving unsafely and subsequently caused a hit-and-run crash in the western San Fernando Valley that left one person seriously injured.

The collision occurred around 1 a.m. on August 3 on Topanga Canyon Boulevard north of Parthenia Street in Canoga Park, Los Angeles police said.

In hopes of identifying the suspect, police released a video taken from another moving car.

The video shows an Acura sedan traveling north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard weaving between lanes and cars before striking a BMW sedan. The collision caused the driver of the BMW to lose control and strike a pole while the driver of the Acura fled the scene, the LAPD said.

The BMW driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

The city has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that helps solve hit-and-run cases.
