Real estate prices continue to rise in Greensboro's most expensive neighborhoods

According to HUD Exchange, the Hamilton Lakes and Starmount Forest neighborhoods are among the most expensive homes in all of Greensboro, with most homes priced between $500,000 and $1 million.

Kelly Marks, a real estate agent at Berkshire Hathaway, says it's because of the area's vast amount of space.

“By 1958, it was going to be a 45,000-acre resort,” Marks said.

Eventually it was incorporated into Greensboro and then expanded. Marks says its location and parks increase its value.

“Huge parking areas, tons of shopping opportunities with stores in the Friendly, Friendly Shopping Center, ideal for shopping in the village, and of course plenty of restaurants,” said Marks.

But it's not the only expensive neighborhood in Greensboro. Marks says that while Greensboro Country Club, north of downtown Greensboro, has higher real estate prices, it's not as large as the Starmount Forest and Hamilton Lakes neighborhoods.

“It’s much, much bigger, and I think that reflects the overall uniformity of development in this area,” Marks said.

And prices are rising in both areas.

“Significantly, both have performed very, very well compared to other parts of the city and are in constant demand,” Marks said.

Marks believes the local school system and community have benefited from the affordable housing that has been created in the Hamilton Lakes and Starmount area.
