19-year-old arrested in connection with shooting of injured teenager in TheBus

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – CrimeStoppers Honolulu and HPD announced the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect accused of injuring a teenager on a city bus earlier this month.

Authorities said an extensive investigation was conducted and the suspect was tracked down downtown weeks after the incident on Wednesday.

He was taken into custody for attempted second-degree murder and numerous weapons offenses. His name was not initially known.

The shooting occurred on August 9. Police said a 16-year-old boy was riding TheBus in Kalihi when one of the two suspects pulled up on a moped. One of the suspects fired a shot at the bus, hitting the victim and eventually taking him to the hospital.

According to police, he was treated and later released.
