Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak – Liverpool injury news and Aston Villa return dates

Preparations for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Aston Villa continued this week.

The Reds will travel to Villa Park on Monday (May 13) for what will be Jurgen Klopp's penultimate game as manager. Klopp will leave the team at the end of the season after nine years as manager at Anfield.

Liverpool will be without injured players ahead of the match. Conor Bradley returned to the squad for last weekend's win over Tottenham after missing three games with an ankle injury. Stefan Bajcetic also returned to action after missing most of the season with a calf injury, playing a total of 25 minutes against Spurs.

Diogo Jota

Injury: Hip.

The Portuguese sustained the injury on April 21 in the match against Fulham and has not yet returned to first-team training.

He missed last Sunday's game against Spurs, but the Reds hope to have the striker back in the matchday squad before the end of the season.

Possible return date: Aston Villa (A) – 13 May.

Joel Matip

Injury: ACL.

Matip is expected to miss the rest of the season and with the defender's contract expiring this summer, it remains to be seen whether he will feature for Liverpool again.

Possible return date: Unknown.

Thiago Alcantara

Injury: Thigh.

Thiago has not played for Liverpool since his five-minute cameo in the defeat to Arsenal on February 4. That cameo remained his only appearance of the season as he continues to recover.

It remains to be seen whether he will play for Liverpool again as his contract expires next month.

Possible return date: Unknown.

Ben Doak

Injury: Knee.

He has been sidelined since December after suffering a knee injury while playing for Liverpool's Under-21 team. No timeframe has been given for when the club expects Doak to return from injury.

Possible return date: Unknown.
