Topgolf in Sacramento: New renderings and proposed location

Talamantes said the new TopGolf will be approximately 5,400 square meters and is expected to create more than 250 new jobs.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Topgolf could come to Sacramento in the South Natomas area.

Sacramento City Councilwoman Karina Talamantes released graphic representations of the facility and its possible location at an open house Wednesday evening.

The planned two-story, 60-space facility will be located off Venture Oaks Way in the area of West El Camino Avenue and Interstate 5.

“I’ve been to Topgolf three times in my life,” Talamantes said.

It has been a four-year process for the councilwoman to get to this point, which began when she served as chief of staff to former councilwoman and current state senator Angelique Ashby.

She said the goal was not to put other golf shops out of business.

“At Topgolf, about 51% of people have never held a golf club,” Talamantes said.

Previously, Natomas had seen growth in housing construction and companies like Costco.

Talamantes said the new TopGolf will be about 53,000 square meters and is expected to create more than 250 new jobs and generate $15 million in economic growth.

The Natomas Chamber of Commerce said additional measures are being planned and could help revitalize this office area during off-hours.

“Where we stand now in South Natomas, from Costco to the airport, you see tremendous commercial development, and there's a lot more planned. This is just the beginning,” said Dard Hunter of the Natomas Chamber of Commerce.

Representatives from Topgolf were present at the open house, but the company has not yet made an announcement about whether it will come to Natomas. A representative told ABC10 that they are in the preparation phase and no timeline has been set.

But Sacramento community leaders are excited about the possibility of top golf coming to Sacramento.

“The property has been vacant for ages and will become a real landmark for local businesses,” Hunter said.

Topgolf has not yet filed paperwork with the city of Sacramento. If the city grants approval, it could take a year for the facility to be operational.

When completed, the building will be the second location in the Sacramento region, along with Roseville.
