Casey Kenney arrested after domestic violence and released from UFC…

Former UFC bantamweight fighter Casey Kenney was recently at the center of a serious legal controversy. On August 16, 2024, Kenney was arrested by Phoenix police on multiple charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident. These charges include kidnapping, aggravated assault by strangulation, and further assault. Following the arrest, the UFC officially terminated Kenney's contract, marking a significant turning point in the fighter's career.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 21 and 22, 2024, at Kenney's apartment. According to the police report, Kenney held his ex-girlfriend Jasmine Mendez captive for 13 hours and physically abused her. The violence included slapping, biting, headbutting, and choking. Mendez's mother initially reported the incident on social media, which eventually led to a police investigation. The situation escalated when Kenney allegedly threatened to shoot Mendez's mother if she tried to intervene.

Court proceedings

Kenney faces a total of six charges, including two felonies. If convicted of kidnapping, he could face between four and twelve and a half years in prison. Following his arrest, Kenney was released from custody and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 26, 2024. A status conference on the case is also scheduled for August 22, 2024.
