Three Palestinians killed in Israeli attack in occupied West Bank | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

Israeli forces have carried out almost daily raids in the area, killing more than 600 Palestinians since October.

Three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on a house in the Tulkarem refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Al Jazeera's Nida Ibrahim reported from Tulkarem on Thursday that the attack was still ongoing in the crowded area 12 hours later, with sounds of explosives and gunfire being heard and drones seen flying over buildings.

“People in the refugee camp say the Israeli army has set fire to some houses and civil defense teams are being denied access to the camp to put out the fires,” she said.

The airstrike on Thursday came as fighters from the Tulkarem battalion clashed with Israeli soldiers in the camp and detonated explosive devices on military vehicles, according to the Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing.

“Our fighters continue to clash with the occupying forces and we have managed to hit them directly,” the Kassam Brigades said.

The Israeli military posted snipers on roofs and sent bulldozers to destroy infrastructure.

The Quds News Network released a video of a fire following the army's ground attack on the camp.

The Israeli military said its planes had attacked “several militants” in Tulkarem while ground troops searched for buried explosives.

The operation destroyed dozens of buildings and injured at least one Israeli soldier.

Tulkarem has been hit hard by Israeli attacks. Since the start of Israel's war on Gaza in October, 90 houses in the area have been destroyed by Israeli army operations, Al Jazeera's Ibrahim said.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces also carried out raids in towns and villages in the West Bank and arrested two teenagers in the towns of Deir Ballut and Tubas.

According to Wafa, a total of 25 Palestinians were arrested on Thursday night and throughout the West Bank, including two women and a child.

The Commission for Prisoners' and Former Prisoners' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) said in a joint statement that the Israeli raids were marked by violence and intimidation.

Witnesses reported to PPS that prisoners and their families were threatened and their homes were damaged.

In the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah, there were clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinians and the use of tear gas, live ammunition and sound bombs.

Since October 7, attacks in the West Bank have increased. Israeli forces have killed more than 600 Palestinians in the occupied territories, including 144 children, and more than 10,000 Palestinians have been arrested.

In a landmark but non-binding ruling last month, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared Israel's continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territories unlawful and called for it to end “as soon as possible.”
