Brock Bowers injury update: Latest news on Raiders TE status in Week 1

After an impressive performance in Week 1 of the preseason against the Minnesota Vikings, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers is sidelined with a foot injury, leaving his status for Week 1 of the 2024 season uncertain.

According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Bowers sat out practice on Tuesday due to alleged foot pain. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Bowers sat out the team's final practice session again on Wednesday.

With concerns mounting, head coach Antonio Pierce was asked about Bowers after practice on Wednesday and whether he would be ready to return to action by week one, which falls on Sunday, September 8. Thankfully, the update was positive.

Latest information on Brock Bowers' injury

“Yeah, just a precaution,” Pierce said when asked if his rookie tight end would be ready for Week 1. “He has a foot injury and we just want to protect him.”

For now, it looks like Bowers' injury is nothing to worry about. He has just over two weeks to prepare before the Raiders begin their regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Bowers, selected No. 13 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, enters his first season without much hype and many consider him the best tight end talent in years.

We saw signs of this all offseason as Bowers showed what he could do in practice, and then he translated that into his preseason debut against the Vikings, making two catches for 25 yards, showing off his versatility and ability to gain yards after the catch.

Bowers, who has been lined up in the slot, line, outside and backfield, is expected to play a major role on offense right away. Provided the quarterback's play is good enough, Bowers could have a great rookie season.
