A$AP Rocky postpones “Don't Be Dumb” album and reveals leaks

The new album by A$AP Rocky Don't be stupid has suffered another delay and will not be released on August 30th.

The message was reported in BillboardThe 40 Fingers' new cover story about the Harlem rapper includes the revelation that the long-awaited project has been postponed until the fall.

While a new release date is still unclear, Pretty Flacko has shed light on the long wait for his fourth album and pointed the finger at leakers.

“I've been working on my music for six years now, but they leak my music and I get over it and say, 'Fuck it,'” he said. “They leak a lot of the music and it ruins it. Like my 'Taylor Swift' video. I was mad about it and never released it.”

The article also offers some insights into Don't be stupid: “He's only been working on it for the last year, but he believes, like most artists who talk about their new work, that it's the best album he's ever made.”

It continues: “Don't be stupid is a little more thematically skewed and deeper than Rocky's usual swaggering works. The 35-year-old jack-of-all-trades puts this down to him getting older (“I'm an OG now”) and wiser, and the world being completely insane right now.

“One of the first songs he recorded for the album is a dark, experimental track called 'Shroom Cloud,' which deals with 'current events and world wars and, you know, the end of the world and so on.'”

A$AP Rocky himself described the album as “grim” and a mixture of “German expressionism [and] Ghetto Futurism.” He also revealed that he had presented the project to legendary director Tim Burton, whom he tried in vain to persuade to design the cover artwork.
