Students dismissed early after air conditioning failure at Queen Creek High

Independent news media

Due to an air conditioning failure, students at Queen Creek High School had to go home early.

Thursday's power outage affected the main building. Temporary chillers were sent to the school “and we expect the school to resume normal operations tomorrow,” said Amanda deNight, spokeswoman for the Queen Creek Unified School District.

The students left the school at 22149 E. Ocotillo Road around 9:45 a.m.

In an email to parents, QCHS Principal Scott Lovely explained that students who could not be picked up early would be relocated to the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, “where the air conditioning is currently not working properly.”

Parents and guardians can pick up their children at QCPAC throughout the day, the email continues.

“Technicians are currently on site. The safety of our students remains our highest priority,” Lovely said in the email.
