Okaw Valley teacher accused of sexual assault released from prison | Top Stories

SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) – An Okaw Valley School teacher arrested on charges of sexual battery of a child and sexual assault has been placed under house arrest, according to court records.

Jason Engler, a 45-year-old middle school teacher, was arrested by Findlay police after being contacted by the school district.

He was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center before being arraigned. In court this week, he was placed under house arrest, with GPS, and banned from using the internet or social media.

In a statement, Findlay police said they “would like to commend the courage of the victims who came forward in this case. We encourage all victims of sexual abuse to come forward and promise to do everything in our power to offer support.”

Engler returns to court in mid-September.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
