Some charges dropped in Breonna Taylor case

Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany are accused of forging the search warrant that led to the fatal raid on Taylor's apartment.

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Some of the most serious charges against two former Louisville Metro Police officers accused in the Breonna Taylor case were dropped Thursday.

In a new ruling, federal judge Charles Simpson dismissed two felony charges against Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany.

The two are accused of forging the search warrant that led to the fatal raid on Taylor's apartment.

A judge ruled that the fake arrest warrant was not the cause of Breonna Taylor's death, a charge that carried a life sentence in prison.

Meany's attorney Brian Butler told WHAS11 they were very pleased with the court's decision.

Both Meany and Jaynes still face several charges in this case.
