Burger King employee who went viral with mediocre anniversary gift opens food truck

The Burger King employee who went viral in 2022 after his management gave him a cheap gift bag for his work anniversary has now started a new venture.

Two years ago, Kevin Ford celebrated his 27th anniversary at the chain, but the celebration was disappointing to say the least. A video of him opening the modest gift quickly went viral, prompting his daughter to start a GoFundMe campaign that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.

With the funds, Ford was able to start a food truck company called K27Y, named after his viral moment. According to TMZ, he used the GoFundMe donations to purchase a $20,000 truck trailer from China that came with a full kitchen, including an oven and fryer.

Ford invited his daughter to join him in this new venture. They're starting with a simple menu of hamburgers and hot dogs. They plan to have the food truck up and running in October and park it at a local Home Depot, just in time for Ford's 30th anniversary at the Burger King at the Las Vegas airport next May. Ford also hopes to expand the menu to include Filipino dishes inspired by his fiancée's heritage.

In addition to the food truck, Ford used some of the GoFundMe money to purchase a home in Nevada for $177,000 earlier this year.
