Tennessee correctional officer charged with sexually abusing female inmates

DICKSON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Dickson County correctional officer has been accused of sexual misconduct with female inmates, according to the sheriff's office.

DCSO said it was alerted to potentially inappropriate behavior by one of its deputies, Calvin Lewis.

Allegations of sexual misconduct with female inmates at the Dickson County Jail were made against Lewis. An internal investigation was launched, along with a criminal investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Lewis was immediately placed on leave. He was later fired from his position and the TBI charged Lewis with three counts of sexual contact with inmates.

He was arrested at his home on Thursday.

“Our office does not and will not tolerate this type of behavior. The safety of the inmates in our care is of paramount importance. We have protocols in place to ensure that such allegations are properly investigated and prosecuted when appropriate,” DCSO said.
