Hattiesburg, Oklahoma couple wanted for July shooting arrested

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Two suspects in a July Hattiesburg shooting were arrested and extradited to the Hub City from Lawton, Oklahoma.

Hattiesburg police said Keon Ray Shawn Griffin, 25, and Jasna Nicole Wright, 27, were booked into the Forrest County Jail Thursday on charges of aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon.

Both were issued arrest warrants on July 26 for their involvement in a shooting a day earlier that left a man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, HPD said.

On July 25, HPD said it responded to a 911 call about a shooting at the intersection of Main Street and East Eighth Street in Hattiesburg.

When they arrived, officers discovered a man who was obviously suffering from a gunshot wound.

Griffin and Wright were initially identified as “persons of interest” before arrest warrants were issued about 24 hours later.

Further information on how the couple got to Oklahoma was not available.
