Two South Central PA referees receive LLWS call

Jared Grissinger and Zachary Gump are two of the 16 umpires who will be in Williamsport this week to officiate some of the best youth baseball teams in the world.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Some of central Pennsylvania’s roots will be in focus at the Little League World Series in Williamsport.

Umpires Jared Grissinger and Zachary Gump are two of the 16 umpires who officiate the annual youth baseball tournament.

“Jared and I will be the fifth and sixth referees to come from this area,” Gump said. “So it's a great honor to join the four people who came before us.”

Both have many years of experience together, but both had waited a long time for this call.

“It's a chance for us to be with kids who love the game and have fun doing it,” said Grissinger. “We can be a part of it.”

The two have worked together on many tournaments, their previous instruction has familiarized them with the terrain, and now it's all business, but also enjoying the sights and sounds of the Little League World Series.

“We've had Zach and I umpire a lot of games,” Grissinger said. “We're going to treat it like any other baseball game and do our best.”

The Little League World Series ends August 25th.
