Former President Trump responded after law enforcement launched a manhunt Thursday for the Republican presidential candidate who allegedly threatened to kill him during a campaign rally at the southern border in Cochise County.

Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, of Benson was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, a Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokesman confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Fox News senior correspondent Alicia Acuna asked Trump if the threats against him had prompted him to change the way he hosts events.

“I've heard about it. But I have to do my job,” he said. “It's a job. It's a dangerous job, but I have to do my job.”

Cochise County spokeswoman Carol Capas told Fox News Digital that the sheriff's office is in “close contact” with Trump's team.

Capas previously confirmed that Syrvud, 66, had made threatening social media posts against Trump over a two-day period.

Trump's visit to the swing state on Thursday was under the motto “Make America Safe Again” and took place when his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, was scheduled to give her acceptance speech at the Democratic Party Convention.

Trump has traveled to Pennsylvania, Michigan and North Carolina this week and will hold events in Las Vegas and the Phoenix suburb of Glendale on Friday.
