Reid Park Zoo to be closed Monday due to water pipe leak

TUCSON, Arizona (13 News) – The Reid Park Zoo and other area facilities will be closed Monday, August 27 due to a leaky water pipe.

The city of Tucson said a pipe on Lakeshore Lane is “leaking significantly” and could burst.

Lakeshore Lane was closed Thursday and will remain closed through Tuesday as workers replace the pipe.

There will be a major water outage in the area on Monday. The city said it does not know how long it will last, but it could last four to eight hours.

“The power outage will affect Reid Park and all buildings on the park's property, including the Reid Park Zoo, Parks and Recreation Administration, Therapeutic Recreation Center and Edith Ball Adaptive Recreation Center,” the city said in a press release. “Portable restrooms will be provided for park visitors.”

In addition to the Reid Park Zoo closing on Monday, the Edith Ball ARC and Therapeutic Recreation Center will also remain closed.
