***All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.***

A man wanted for murder in Georgia was tracked down and arrested at a Covington-area motel.

On Wednesday evening (August 21), the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office was notified that a man wanted for a murder in Fayette County, Georgia, was believed to be staying at a motel off Highway 21 near Covington.

Patrol officers and members of the STPSO SWAT team arrived at the motel and established a perimeter.

The wanted suspect, Kenneth Hardin Jr., 39, was located leaving one of the rooms and taken into custody. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to Georgia.

“This is a message to all criminals,” said Sheriff Randy Smith. “St. Tammany Parish is not the place to hide after committing a dangerous crime in another county. We will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to find fugitives in our parish so they can be brought to justice.”
