'Don't Be Dumb', Rocky's first album since 2018's 'Testing', was scheduled to be released on August 30, but has now been pushed back to fall 2024, according to the rapper's new interview with Billboard.

BillboardIn an interview with Rocky, no reason was given for the delay, but the rapper has since publicly confirmed that unauthorized leaks and sample release issues are the issue. A$AP Rocky wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “LEAKS AND SAMPLE RELEASES ARE DESTROYING THE ALBUM. IT'S BEEN 6 YEARS AND I WANT TO MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. I'M SORRY I HAVE TO WAIT.”

A firm release date for the album has yet to be announced, but it is expected sometime between September and November.

Elsewhere in the Billboard In the chat, Rocky said he played the album for Tim Burton, who apparently liked the record. The rapper tried to get Burton to design the cover for “Don't Be Dumb,” but the two couldn't align their schedules so it worked. Still, he was able to play the record for Burton: “I sat there and played the album for Tim Burton, and he went nuts, he was bobbing his head and was like, 'Wow! I didn't know you made this kind of music!'”

Rocky also confirmed that although the collaboration with Burton fell through, he was able to work with Burton's long-time collaborator and composer Danny Elfman and contribute some music to the album.

The album delay comes after A$AP Rocky released the single “Highjack” featuring Jessica Pratt earlier this month – a music video for the track was released yesterday (August 22). The New Yorker also hinted that he will be working with Fatman Scoop, Flavor Flav, Slick Rick, Morrissey and Busta Rhymes on an upcoming track called “Hood Happy,” saying “that's kind of crazy,” while promising it's “coming soon.”

A tracklist for the album has not yet been released. NFR Podcast reported that the album will include features from artists such as Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Madlib, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia, The Alchemist, Clams Casino, Mike Dean and more.

Elsewhere, it was hinted that he would respond to Drake's disses on the album, with DJ Kast One commenting: “I've heard A$AP Rocky definitely addresses a lot of the main issues that are going on here right now. Let's just say the list goes on,” on Hot 97.

In other news, the rapper told her fans in February that Rihanna was working on her ninth album. However, in June, the singer said she was “starting over again” with the album. Her last album was 2016's “Anti.”
