Trailer

Sid Meier's Civilization VII – Official Teaser Trailer

We have the first teaser trailer for Civilization 7 during the Summer Game Fest 2024. It is just CGI footage panning through models of different cultures in battle with a voiceover, and not in-game footage.

Additional trailers were released during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 and are detailed in the Gameplay section below.

Gameplay

Sid Meier's Civilization VII – Gameplay Reveal Trailer

As promised, we got a first look at the gameplay during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024. After a brief overview of the history of the series, we finally see Civilization 7 in action. Graphically, it is far superior to all previous games, but still has the same style and readability, with exaggerated characters and a grid-based map. Several civilizations are featured, such as the Aztecs, Egyptians and ancient Chinese, as well as modern militaries with tanks and planes.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII – Official Gameplay Showcase

Civilization 7 returned shortly after its trailer at Opening Night Live as the subject of a more detailed stream covering gameplay. It was also revealed that Gwendoline Christie from game of Thrones Fame will be the new narrator.

The gameplay went beyond many of the expected mechanics for a civilization game, such as building your empire and negotiating with other historical figures throughout history. This time, however, you can choose a leader independent of the civilization you lead. This opens up unprecedented possibilities for playstyles and new ways to shape your growing empire.

In multiplayer mode, players can compete against each other in both standard matches, which can last quite a long time, and in shorter single-player sessions. It was also announced that Civilization 7 will be a cross-platform game.
