Brawl leads to shooting outside Target store in Twin Falls

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – Twin Falls police are investigating a second shooting in as many nights and the third in a week.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Target parking lot on the first report of a large fight that ended in a shooting.

It is assumed that the group consisted of 15 to 20 people, but most of them fled the scene.

According to Sergeant Steven Gassert, officers found bullet casings in the parking lot.

One man sustained minor injuries and was treated by Magic Valley paramedics. Sergeant Gassert was unsure if the victim was injured by a bullet ricochet or if it was just minor scratches from escaping the situation.

We asked Sergeant Gassert if he was concerned about the increasing number of shootings.

“Our officers are constantly patrolling the area, out and about, and we would rather have someone go out and see what's going on in the community, see what concerns they have and what we can do to address those concerns,” Sergeant Gassert explained.

It is currently unknown whether last night's shooting is connected to Wednesday's shooting at the College of Southern Idaho.

The police are asking the public for help in both incidents.

“If any of this is captured on video or on social media or something similar, that type of evidence can help us narrow down the people involved in the situation so that we can stop these incidents, hold those responsible for the situation accountable and stop this kind of behavior in our community,” Gassert added.

The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the response.
