Two injured in Hopewell crash after driver fails to stop at stop sign

According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, two people were injured in a crash at the intersection of County Roads 4 and 47 in Hopewell Thursday morning after a driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m. when 35-year-old Thomas Tartaro of Liverpool ran a stop sign in his Jeep Wrangler, striking a 2019 Subaru driven by 68-year-old Margaret Vanek of Auburn. The impact caused Vanek's vehicle to catch fire, but it was quickly extinguished by officials and the Hopewell Fire Department.

Both Tartaro and Vanek were taken to FF Thompson Hospital with minor injuries. Tartaro was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
