Manu Bhaker leaves event in Chennai as reporter asks her mother about her viral video with Neeraj Chopra | Trends

Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker reportedly walked out of an event in Chennai on Wednesday after a reporter asked her mother a question about the video circulating online showing her conversation with javelin star Neeraj Chopra during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Bhaker, 22, was attending an event at Velammal Nexus School in Chennai where the champion shooter was being honoured.

A viral video showed Manu Bhaker’s mother talking to Neeraj Chopra.

At the beginning of the month, two videos from Paris caused a storm on the Internet: one shows Neeraj Chopra talking to Manu Bhaker, the other shows him talking to the shooter's mother.

In the second clip, Sumedha holds Bhaker Chopra's hand as they engage in animated conversation. The video has garnered over a million views on X (formerly Twitter). Many people jokingly concluded that the older woman thought Bhaker Chopra would be a suitable match for her daughter.

The short clips made fans of Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra believe that the two would make a great couple.

This happened at the event in Chennai

At the event in Chennai on Wednesday, Bhaker answered several questions from journalists.

A reporter asked her about the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat and the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) ruling on her appeal.

“Vinesh's verdict was politically motivated. What is your opinion?” the reporter asked Bhaker, according to a report by Sportstar.

Before the gunman could answer, another reporter fired a question to Bhaker's mother.

“What did you talk to Neeraj (Chopra) about?” asked reporter Sumedha Bhaker, Sportstar reported.

The question was the last straw and caused Manu Bhaker to leave the event, the report said.

Last week, Manu Bhaker's father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, said she was “still too young” and they “are not thinking about her marriage”.

Manu Bhaker created history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian athlete after independence to win two medals at a single edition of the Olympics. On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in the men's javelin throw, three years after winning gold at the Tokyo Games.
