Apple's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max leaks: Bigger displays, faster chipset, new colors and everything expected

California-based Apple is gearing up to unveil its latest iPhone 16 Pro series, with the official announcement expected in a few weeks. As reported by various media outlets, the tech giant is expected to hold its annual iPhone launch event in early September, probably around September 10.

According to a recent report from 9To5Mac, everything you expected from the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is there.

Extended display sizes

According to the publication, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to have larger screens than ever before. While the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could retain the dimensions of their predecessors, the Pro versions will likely feature larger displays. The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to come with a 6.3-inch display, an upgrade from the iPhone 15 Pro's 6.1-inch screen. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch display, up from the previous model's 6.7-inch.

A18 Pro chip with AI improvements

At the heart of the iPhone 16 series will likely be Apple's new A18 chip, across the entire lineup. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to get the premium version of this chip, dubbed the A18 Pro. As expected with any new chip iteration, users can look forward to improvements in CPU and GPU performance. This year, however, Apple seems to be focusing heavily on improving the Neural Engine in the A18 Pro, with the aim of significantly improving AI-related tasks. While the current AI capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro have been widely praised, the A18 Pro's upgrades aim to future-proof it for increasingly AI-driven applications.

Revised color options

This year, Apple is expected to revamp its color palette for the iPhone 16 Pro models. The “Blue Titanium” option will reportedly be replaced by a new “Desert Titanium,” a bronze-like finish that may include subtle pink accents. Additionally, “Black Titanium” is expected to be even darker, resembling a deeper, midnight-like hue. The lineup will also include updated versions of the existing “Natural Titanium” and “White Titanium” colors.

New Record button for the camera

A new physical button could be introduced on all iPhone 16 models, complementing the action button introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro series. Dubbed the “Capture” button, this button will be located on the right side of the device, just below the side button. The capture button is expected to improve the camera experience by allowing users to quickly take photos and potentially supporting gestures for zoom and focus adjustments.

Advanced camera features

The camera system on the iPhone 16 Pro models is expected to receive several significant improvements. In particular, the ultra-wide-angle camera will be upgraded from 12MP to 48MP, bringing it closer to the 48MP main camera. This improvement could lead to improved spatial video recording capabilities. In addition, the smaller iPhone 16 Pro will likely feature 5x optical zoom, matching the feature introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year.

Improved battery life and connectivity

Battery life is also expected to improve with the iPhone 16 Pro series. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 3,577mAh battery, compared to 3,274mAh on the iPhone 15 Pro, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to have a 4,676mAh battery, compared to 4,422mAh on its predecessor. Improvements in the thermal design of the devices are also expected, potentially reducing issues related to overheating.

In terms of connectivity, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce support for the new Wi-Fi 7 standard as well as a faster 5G modem, promising better cellular speeds and more reliable connections.
