A$AP Rocky's new album delayed due to leaks and sample releases

A$AP Rocky's new album is delayed due to “leaks and sample releases”.

Don't be stupid was supposed to be released on August 30th, but there were some setbacks so the album's release had to be postponed until fall.

“Leaks and sample releases disrupt the album. It was [SIX] YEARS AND I WANT TO MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. I'M SORRY I HAVE TO WAIT,” Rocky wrote on X after Billboard reported the change of release date.

In his interview with the magazine, the rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, revealed that legendary filmmaker Tim Burton had heard the record and was a big fan.

“I sat there and… played the album to Tim Burton, and he was fucking heavy on it. He was shaking his head and thinking, 'Wow! I didn't know you made this kind of music!'” Rocky revealed.

The two were in contact because the “Praise The Lord” singer Edward Scissorhands Director to design the artwork for the LP. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to do it.

However, some of the music was contributed by Danny Elfman, the famous composer who regularly worked with Burton.

It is a highly collaborative endeavor and guests include Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Madlib, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia and Mike Dean.

Rocky's last studio album was in 2018 Test.

The music star, who has sons RZA and Riot with Rihanna, recently said his music has become “more meaningful” since becoming a father.

“I think a lot of things have changed sonically. My taste in music and just different artists and just different genres… have changed, especially in the way I make music and the way I release music now and so on,” Rocky told Apple Music's Zane Lowe when asked if fatherhood has changed his approach to music.

“I think it's more meaningful,” Rocky continued. “I have more to say. I have more personal, vulnerable things to talk about and so on. And I think the trick is just finding that fine balance between being entertaining and telling a story or giving something, telling something that's worth listening to and something informative about yourself and so on.

“And that's kind of where I am now, just the two of me and stuff, and I'm at the peak of my career as far as design and everything, and film – and whatever, man, we've done it all,” he added.
