Netflix true crime series about NFL star's shocking death makes viewers angry for one reason

Netflix's hit series “Untold” lives on – and this time it's about the NFL. But after watching “The Murder of Air McNair,” fans are frustrated because something is missing.

You don't have to look far on Netflix to find good new true crime series and documentaries to binge-watch. From American Murder to The Man with 1000 Kids, we've never had more choice.

Now, for sports fans, things are going a step further with the release of Untold: The Murder of Air McNair. Legendary NFL quarterback Steve “Air” McNair was murdered in 2009. The new TV show traces his rise to success on the field and his sudden death.

Although the series is popular overall, fans had a problem with the latest episode. it ends too abruptly without much resolution.

“Just watched 'The Untold: The Murder of Air McNair' on Netflix and it's so sad that his life ended so tragically after all that. Not sure who really did it though. Seems like some really sloppy investigative work,” posted one fan on X/Twitter.

A second agreed: “Untold: the murder of Air McNair. It's kind of not quite clear who killed him. Crazy to watch.”

“It seemed like it ended abruptly. It seems like there was more to talk about,” said a third.

It wasn't just the fans who were a bit annoyed – even The Guardian urged viewers in its review to “save yourself an hour and just google it”.

Because McNair's story fits into the structure of a larger true crime documentary, only a 58-minute episode was devoted to it, which had to cover as much as possible.

Some fans felt the case would have been more impactful as a miniseries rather than in connection with the Untold brand.

“It was much better than I thought. True, it could have been a miniseries,” added another.

For longtime NFL fans, however, reliving McNair's story was more emotional than expected. McNair, 36, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in downtown Nashville in 2009 along with 20-year-old Sahel “Jenni” Kazemi. Police ruled the incident a murder-suicide with Kazemi as the perpetrator.

“The Air McNair Murder documentary is a must watch… I always thought his mistress killed him and then killed herself but man after watching it I don't know now,” wrote one user.
