Boston MBTA Red Line incident involving track maintenance vehicles – NBC Boston

The current suspension of some MBTA Red Line services will be extended through Monday following an overnight incident involving track maintenance vehicles, the T announced Friday.

At around 12:30 a.m. near the Longfellow Bridge in Boston, a construction vehicle collided with another construction truck, according to the newspaper T. The truck was then pushed into another construction vehicle.

To ensure no one was injured and to assess the damage, work along the closed service area was immediately stopped, T said.

The driver of the first truck hit was taken to the hospital for examination, according to T officials.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Nine hours later, work resumed, T said.

Earlier this week, the T suspended service between the JFK/UMass and Kendall/MIT stations to give workers time to do track work and maintenance at the station.

The closure of the Red Line was supposed to last until Sunday.

Free commuter service is available between Braintree and South Station and between Porter and North Station.
