Drunk driving arrest following fatal crash on Route 8 in Beacon Falls, Connecticut.

Two children and one adult were killed in the crash in February.

The driver who struck a car on Route 8 in Beacon Falls in February, killing two children and an adult, has been arrested, according to Connecticut State Police.

State police arrested 40-year-old William Kundert of Oxford on Thursday.

Kundert is accused of rear-ending a Honda Civic on the left shoulder of Route 8 North near Exit 23 on the afternoon of February 4.

The Civic was traveling slowly on the left shoulder when Kundert's Ford F600 crossed into the left lane and shoulder, striking the guardrail and the Civic, state police said.

Andresa De Brito Alves, 25, and two children aged 3 and 6 were killed in the crash.

Witnesses and emergency callers said they saw the truck speeding and driving erratically before and after the accident, the arrest warrant states.

Kundert was charged with manslaughter, assault, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was held on $1 million bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
